Downpour

by jexmas on February 14, 2017

What is the wind but the exasperated exhale of the earth in time
And the rain, nothing but tears of sadness about the state of things
These downpours of the past few weeks have drenched us all
Filled our dams to overflowing and put us in a kind of danger
That feels like a metaphor for the deluge of hatred invading our country
How many people have had to flee
How many people will not come back
How many people left their being in limbo
Their houses filled with the love and fluff of their lives
Waiting for the flood, the tidal wave of forces too powerful
The downpour too sad to stop, too strong to cry
Where will we be after this deluge
Miles down the river and nowhere to go
