There is an undeniable feeling in the air. Fall is stirring up a cool breeze, whisking the leaves and street detritus up into small, gleeful whirlwinds, dusting up our shoes and rustling our skirts and pants legs. Feel the shivers and the cool, damp air sneaking around and down our necks and shoulders. Even though it has been a long time coming, it still takes us by surprise. “I wish I had worn a sweater,” we say, and, “I wish I had worn some socks.”

All the exposed and vulnerable pieces of skin tickled by the creeping cold and restless wind feel how fragile we are. We were lulled by the warmth of the sun and the softness of summer’s breath. We forgot how to brace ourselves against the newness of the cold.

“I’m coming,” Fall says, “Bundle up.”
